Chilfen Joinery said farewell to the Director of Finance Melanie Childs last week. Melanie, the daughter of the founding member Alec has worked for Chilfen Joinery for over 30 years and has contributed greatly to the success of the company throughout these years. We are pleased to say that Mel will not be going very far as she has taken on a new role within the holding company for the Chilfen Group, Wiltonsign Properties Ltd as co. Secretary and Director. Melanie will still be attending AGM meetings associated with the group of companies, maintaining her position as shareholder alongside Alec, Russell and Michelle. We wish Mel all the best in her new venture and hope she enjoys her new role.

As we continue to celebrate impressive continued growth in the joinery market, local newspaper The Comet ran a piece about us on February 12th 2015. The article highlighted our growth from a small family business established in 1960, to the impressive investments we have made in facilities, equipment and staff within the last 12 months.

2015 is set to be an exciting time for Chilfen Joinery as we have new plans and investments in the pipeline.

On 1st October a class of Year 11s from The Priory School in Hitchin visited  Chilfen where they learnt about the manufacturing industry first hand. They learnt all about the Computer Aided Design used to create detailed drawing and sketches of products through to the Computer Aided Manufacture machines that produced them and all about batch manufacturing in an assembly line for their coursework and exam in Product Design.

The day was a great success and we at Chilfen welcome all educational organisations to visit and tour our production facility.

It was good to see Steven Wood turn out in his favourite weekend outfit!

Two bright and enthusiastic young golfers took part in the Ian Poulter invitational Juniors golf tournament held at the Woburn Golf Club on the Marquess course.

100 Players with maximum handicaps of 16 qualified to take part in this inspirational tournament held on the 21st July.

1st Place was secured by Callum Pearson winning a superb set of “Cobra Amp Cell Pro Irons”

Josh Pearson came in a respectable 23rd place.

Both players are the sons of proud father and Chilfen’s very own Production Manager Russell Pearson.
